mate obviously u are going the wong way bout having you’re “serious defects” repaired. i have a tx4 auto so have several friends neither i or they have had any problem with the vehicle as to “serious defects” there has been teething problems but the dealership have been extremly helpful and have rectified any teething problems quickly and efficiently. as for slating the company think youre out of order you may well have problems with youre tx4 this doesn’t mean all tx4 drivers are experiencing the same problems as you’rs. as far as i’m concerned the vehicle is excellent and SAFE

i have a tx4 i purchased in dec 2006 the first problem was rear door not lining up also the cab was like a bowl of jelly to drive .they fonud the rear axle was worped and the replced it then i broke down twice both accasions it was turbo pipes (that they known about )then ther was the time the cab was at the service dealers for 4 days they could not find any faults .i picked the cab up within the hour i broke down the rac came and found the fault it was the lead to the alternator broke away i have also had the radiater replaced the famous fire protection they also supplied me with 4 new tyres and rims and sent down an engineer to set the front steering track rods etc because it was all out of line also my wipers keep moving from there position the dealers have to reset them and now i have just fond out that i will be having a new gearbox because mine is crunching on top of this the real problem is when any thing goes wrong i have to wait for lti to send down an engineer to confirm what the service dealer say (and believe me it takes weeks) i am in the process of trying to get rid of it when the work is done A FRIDAY AFTERNOON CAB

TX4 faults? Fluctuating engine temp-LTI says it’s normal! Does the cooling fan ever come on? Not that I am aware of. Here in Glasgow we have had a number blown cylinder heads. LTI says there is no connection….£1800 please!
Radiator– mine was fine ’till the rework. short time later started leaking. Caused by removal during rework? Not possible says dealer.
Engine noise after rework!!!! With all sound deadening removed to stop “spontaneous combustion” can hardly hear myself think! Noisier than the FX4 I owned 30 years ago!!! That’s progress.

TX4 cylinder head blown at 92k miles.Still under warranty BUT Patons are waiting for a spare and this is week 3 off the road. Allegedly there are about a dozen similar up and down the UK awaiting a shipment. The cab is grossly overheated even in winter, and in summer( we do get one in Scotland) you roast. I think that the engine is too big for the space available, and the radiator does not match the cooling performance needed. We’ve had 3 fitted.
Dreading warranty expiry.

THE TX4 IS A PROBLEM WAITING TO HAPPEN WHEN IT HITS A CERTAIN MILEAGE . DEALERS IN SCOTLAND DO NOT KNOW WHY OR HOW IT HAPPENS BUT THEY DO KNOW IT COSTS 3000 TO REPAIR AND IT TAKES 6 DAYS TO GET THE PARTS FROM ITALY THIS IS NOT JUST 1 TAXI THERE ARE A NUMBER OF VEHICHLES IN WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM

Sorry to hear about all the problems, thankfully I no longer own THE “problem”, it was returned to its makers in June 2008. I was relieved of the “problem” to my satisfacton,BUT i have a legal “control” on any further comments !
We are all fully aware of on going issues, the share price of Manganese Bronze and its interim report make interesting reading.
Suffice to say that I will never purchase another of these “Products” as I am sure the figures show many others will not as well !

I own a 56 plate tx2. In three and a half years and 140,000 had 1 flywheel replaced during warranty and I paid for a solid flywheel with clutch after warranty. had 2 timing chains during warranty. Apart from these small albeit inconvenient problems the cab has been a solid workhorse. When I bought it new other drivers couldn’t believe that I bought a TX2 when I could have purchased the newly introduced Peugeot E7 as they were all doing in droves across the Wirral. 3 years later many of these drivers have offloaded their problem alternatives while I am still driving my TX2 getting 30 plus the the gallon. If LTI still made the tx2 I would gladly purchase another as opposed to the thirsty TX4. even with the problems I have had I would still be saving money with my low fuel consumption over a three to four year ownership. If lti put a Japanese engine in their tx4 or next model I would most definately buy one as the alternatives just aren’t up to scratch. Reading the forums on TX4′s problems I am put off buying one and will carry on driving my TX2 untill LTI invest good money on a good engine.

It cant be as bad as the Peugeot Expert Teepee derived E7. In 74,000 miles and 20 months I have had:-
knacked drivers seat
trim panels coming away
plastic step edge coming apart
just had third anti roll bar
replaced droplinks
new top sign due to water ingress
new rear door open sign due to water ingress
new front passenger locking sensor replaced
replaced drivers window regulator
ramp goosed
5 new electric step motors
5 new micro switches to steps
replaced electric mirror
air bag electric problems
steering wheel come off twice!
20 mpg drinks fuel
clutch flywheel knackered peugeot wont fix it even though it is within warranty
I have not listed everything but I am contacting Consumer Direct and the finance company to reject it. Do not buy one of these VANS.

you lot think you had problems! ordered my tx4 gold in may 2007 for a delivery in august 2007. taxi arrived a week late!collected from kpm in london.no diesel in it what so ever. while filling up noticed no carpet or floor covering in the boot even on their top spec model. only 1 for hire sign bulb working.within a week noticed when sun shone my taxi wasn’t black but brown due to lack of paint! 4 months later and much complaning finally ended up with a complete repaint inside and out.rear door often taking passengers 2 attemps to shut it .front doors whistling in the wind at speed front rain cover loose. next fuel sender unit replaced new chrome grill after old 1 cracked, rear air con modified front bumper keeps comming loose also front wing loose had new cd player replacedstill keeps stopping and mp3 players only play out of 1 speaker, new heater control pack ,heater re-work heater valve replaced new gear box control pack! this cured the starting problem after having the chips replaced in the keys .gearbox still not right.3 steering coloums ! they still rattle, oil cooler pipe leaking ,gearbox sump, leaking 2 air-con hoses chaffed away on battery plate, cause pipe bracket to difficult to fit!air-con drain not conected carpets soaked. 2 radiators leaking steering box repaired. propshaft repair kit then prop shaft replaced .starter motor wire burned out, heater seals replaced, after carpets soaked again!tubo pipes leaking twice , now for the reworks, turbo pipes, hooter fixing, battery wire, brake plate rework, and of course the fire rework! waiting till next month then will need headlights replaced before warrnty runs outs. would reckon this taxi has lost me over 5 weeks work.

I purchased my TX4 in Oct 2009, as the saloon cars we drive down here in Wales are not safety cars. I know a number of taxi drivers who have been attacked, beaten and robbed in my area and decided the TX4 was the way to go. How wrong i was. I drove Skoda’s for many years, buying other peoples second hand ones, and never had any major problems even though some of them had 300 thousand miles on them, and are still on the road. Decided to invest in a new TX4 and took delivery in October 2009, and since then my night mare started and is still on going. I cannot list them to you at presant as i am trying to get a replacement new TX4, but i have had all the above faults and any many many more to contend with. I would not say i don’t like the TX4, it is a wounderful cab with all the safety features needed and good wheelchair accesability, just not happy with the mechanical side of this vehicle. Took the cab in with 21 faults picked it 2 days later still with 18 faults not done. And more to be added on since having it back. All- together there has been over 50 faults and more occuring every day. I have a meeting again at the end of the month and will give you the out come then.

i own two TX4′s, my 08 plate has had very little done to it, my 56 plate has had a new engine, gearbox, 3 radiators, 5 cluthches, (one lasted 15,000miles) battery, starter, wiper motor, steering box etc etc etc, i think i have changed every part in this durable and reliable vehicle, when you mention the word’s NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE to LTI they jump straight on the defensive, they do not care about people who have been loyal customer’s, I have been a customer of their’s for 14year’s, if you are thinking about buying a new TX4 add £10,000 to the purchase price, that’s what you will need,a message to LTI bring back Nissan before it’s too late for your company, if it cost’s more for the engine than this VM rubbish it would be money well spent, I would rather spend £32,000 on a vehicle that loves the open road than £30,000 on a vehicle that loves the dark cold dirty workshop, do yourself a favour if you need a new cab, stay away from the TX4.

I often wonder if all the people who complain about tx4 actually work for one of the van conversion companies! Im sure if this vehicle had so many problems that really, nobody would buy them, yet they do. Im still looking at the options, although my NVQ problem may mean me being forced out of the trade.

Good service agents who will undertake warranty work are hard to find. Lti are happier spending money on litigation than on resolving problems with these vehicles.
